LA Fitness

Well, with the new year comes resolutions.
This is the first year I actually got started on my resolution early and have been pretty good about stickin' with it, so far!
Mike and I joined LA Fitness. It's a stone's throw away from our house. Easy to stop by on the way home from work or going to on the weekends. We have also recruited Jason, Suzie, Eric and Liz.
Suzie and I have met up a few times and decided that some of the machines need to be renamed for those of us who need to get right down to business on our target areas.
Those machines new names are:

*Ghetto Booty Press
*Bingo Arms Lift
*Jungle pouch cruncher
*Back Fat minimizer

Hi...I may be starting to work at LA Fitness as a sales person. They explained to me that the pay is based on the DRAW system...they explained it to me a little bit but I am still confused by it...does anyone know about this or is anyone out there working at LA Fitness in sales and have any advice with this questions as well as if you like it and your pay?

I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to mine. My husband daughter and I all purchased gym memberships. My husband also purchased a trainer. Before his contract with the trainer was up we cancelled our membership. I was unemployed and returning to school which was making it difficult to keep ahead of our payments. According to the contract you are responsible for half of the outstanding fees. Head office acknowledged that we cancelled these memberships when they took credit card information from my husband only to pay the outstanding fees. A one time deal. What they did instead was restart my husbands gym membership $40 a month and they continued to take the whole amount of $168 per month for the trainer. They did this for five months before I noticed. I was at the time focusing on my debit cards which were being defrauded. After talking to them they have agreed to reimburse us for the membership which they openly acknowledge we cancelled but refuse to reimburse us for the other 50% of the training fees. Am I the only one that sees the unreasonableness in this. Why were they able to accept cancellation of the membership over the phone and not the trainer and if they weren't doesn't good customer service dicatate that you should inform your customer of that. I am sure I am not the only one. They have greater financial loss in that we will not be returning to that guy when we do sign up again. I was a long standing member prior to this.

Nancy, you are not alone. I was lied into a contract for training. I was told I would receive about 23 or so training sessions plus a couple free if I joined that same day for $120 when I had gone in to only access the gym for $39/mo. At no point did they say that this was a $120 per month fee and oh by the way we are locking you into an 18month contract.
They don't let you take the contract home and go through it neither did I suspect that these guys are going to be lying to me.
Do these trainers get paid on commissions? that's the only thing I can think of as an incentive for them to lie.
I did not find out about this monthly recurring charge of $120 for couple months as I do not check my accounts that frequently. I canceled it in Oct and yet they kept charging me.
I called the corp office and they give me contract nonsense. I am going to look into taking a legal action. Any suggestions? Any other victims out there?

LA Fitness OCOEE, FL is a JOKE! The GM is an asshole. The reps are rude. Absolutely no customer service, and the machines are DIRTY! They also need to stop bad mouthing other gyms in the area which are cleaner, more affordable and offer a more professional atmosphere. Maybe other LA Fitness gyms are worth it, but this one is dirty, with nasty reps who lie about everything, and full of ugly poor people!

LA Fitness SUCKS. I joined with my 2 kids. We did not use it enough to justify the cost so I attempted to cancel. You cannot cancel at the club, they lost my cancellations letters, the internet access does not work. So after 2 months of attempted cancellations I received a call from the local manager of the club wanting $$$, I was informed that I should have sent it "Certified" mail. So now I have to pay to cancel. This is a JOKE company. DO NOT JOIN for they will jerk you around.

LA Fitness Sucks!!! Try to cancel your membership and see what happen. Good luck!!! I am still trying to cancel it, by following the easy to follow procedures. Mail the cancellation to "headquarters" and everything will be taken care. Well.... How many tries, calls, and visits does it takes to cancel a membership? Be real guys, I WILL NEVER EVER recommend this to my worse enemy.

Hey All...Buyer Be Ware! What a joke this joint is! I went to cancel my membership and discovered I had to complete a form and mail it to corporate headquarters via snail mail. Oh, the moron behind the counter had no answers for me when I inquired as to why such a hassle to cancel. The only thing he had to say was to be sure and send my cancelation notice registered mail as they often seem to mis-place the cancelation notices. I went online to see if I could cancel online, only to discover they permit you to print the form to cancel but no way to cancel membership online...only print the form and mail it in via snail mail. You have got to be kidding me! This is not the sign of a reputable company to do business with!!! Interesting thing though...I immediately filed a complaint (conveniently online) at the Better Business Bureau and got results! I recommend each and every person wishing to cancel membership go online and file a complaint against this disgusting policy at the BBB. The only reason they require snail mail cancelation notices is to enable the company to charge additional gym fees! This is not a reputable company! KevinD

LA Fitness, their staff is rude and their trainers are all very inexperienced. The air conditioning doesn't work properly, the ladie's bathroom is dirty and their sound system is awful.

I belong in Stoneham, MA. Club is less than 1 1/2 yrs old. Here's my impressions...they skimp on maintenance, men's locker room floor is dirty, flooring tiles in men's sauna has been broken in pieces for months, women's locker room one toilet has had an out of order sign on it for a year, spinning bikes get little to no pm with lots of use.

When I brought the cleanliness issue to the manager's attention his reply was hat they are having problems with their janitorial person...that's too bad but that's not the members problem we all pay in good faith for a clean operation, with working equipment and they need to do their part to ensure that.

My girlfriend has been double billed for training now 2x, and no one called her back to respond.

"Club Pride" is lip service, ...in my business...if there was club pride would mean that the manager would grab a mop and wash the floor himself if he didn't have enough cleaning crew,

fWe have a new gym in Stuart Florida and I went to the open house but i wanted to think about it before I joined. They called a couple of weeks later and said I did not have to pay the fee to join just the monthly fee of $37 so I joined over the phone. Then I went in for my first visit and I was told someone would show me how to use the machines. Well they took me into the office and went thru a bunch of questions about why I joined and then they showed me three machines and took me back to the office and suggested I sign up for a trainer which at the time thought maybe it was a good idea because they have so many machines. So they worked up the figures and it was $469 and I said that was way too much I could not afford that. They then got the manager and he said I could sign up for a year for $360 so I thought that was not too bad and I would have a trainer 4 times for the first month and then once a month for the next 11 months. They set me up with an appointment. The day of my appointment I got a call at 7am and they said the trainer had a death in the family and would not be there to I went in anyway and did the three machines they showed me and left thinking the trainer would call me when he got back. I never heard from him so I went back and no one was in the office to talk to so I left and went back the next week. Found one person to talk to but he said I had to wait for the manager. The manager was busy so I decided to go home and call. I pulled out my paperwork which I thought was just the receipt for the $306 and started reading trying to find the phone number. I found a paragraph that said I had signed up for a $306 membership and then $160 a month. Whenever I signed up I asked them 3 times if the $306 was all I had to pay and everytime they answered yes. I did not even realize I had a contract. They never gave it to me ahead of time to sign. They just used my approval of the #306 on my credit card. I have told my Credit card company to cancel the payment and not allow any more payments to them. At this point I do not know if I will get my money back. I may have to get an attorney for this. They lied to me and I can believe they can stay in business with this type of treatment and crookery. Helen

I was a member of LA Fitness until 7 weeks ago. You see, 7 weeks ago I got a free trial week pass to attend classes at CrossFit RepScheme in Northridge California. My friend and I agreed to give it a try. That free week trial changed my life! CrossFit RepScheme is not anything like a big gym. There are no treadmills or machines. The training that I receive daily has helped me to loose 21 pounds and pack on some muscle. I feel fantastic and I love my daily WOD! If you live or work in Northridge, CA you must check them out! They are right by the Northridge Mall on Prairie Street.

Check out this class action lawsuit. I just added my name because I spent 94 min on the phone with the "member services" this morning. They have been taking money out of my account every month for the last 26 mo. The membership was supposed to be cancelled and they continued to bill me for them. They said they were on "hold"!! BS...I cancelled them in Nov. of 2010!! They finally cancelled them in June of 2012 but continued to bill my account for the Kids Club!!! Unbelievable they are the worst company I have ever delt with!!!

The LA Fitness in Austell, GA is a company full liars and thieves. The entire company is a scheme. I was told by the service manager James, that I could cancel my training membership at any given time if I chose to. When I attempted to cancel, he stated it was in my contract that I was locked in for 52 weeks. So why lie James? Was it to get a sale? When I contacted the regional vp Antonio Vincent, he was a liar and nasty. Not one time did he ask James if he told me I could cancel. He danced around the subject by offering me other trainers and told me it was nothing I could do. Which leads me to believe the regional VP allow his worker bee's to lie. I then contacted Todd McSeveny, with no response. I refuse to pay LA Fitness one dime until my concerns are addressed. This company is a ponzi scheme and Antonio Vincent is Madoff!

THERE IS NO CANCELLING THE PERSONAL TRAINING CONTRACT EVEN IF YOU MOVE TO A STATE WHERE THERE ARE NO LA FITNESS CLUBS!!! Beware of the trickery. Their MO is to provide you with only the first page of three pertaining to the personal training contract. They fail to inform you that the contract lacks a relocation clause. Thus allowing them to continue to hold you accountable for the full year committment for personal training. I had to pay 50% of the balance remaining for the full year even though I moved to a state where no LA Fitness clubs are located! What a ripoff!

La Fitness in Collegeville, Pa is pretty bad, considering it is surrounded by major pharmaceuticals and lots of money. Let me tell you what chaps my hide:
1 the floors around the equipment rarely get vacuumed, you'll get up with lint ass
2 showers only sometimes have hot water
3 people run full marathons on the limited quantity of treadmills (only about 2/3rds work at any given time) even though there is a line of folks waiting
4 ladies room constantly is out of toilet paper
5 toilet seats seem to get loose frequently and takes an army to get them tightened
6 people throw the weights around
7 no real security, cars get broken into
8 Staff is lazy and don't care to listen to make things better
9 better have a friend close that can drive you to the ER if you get hurt, as they won't even get you an ice pack let alone an ambulance
10 Sales staff attempts to act like trainers to get you to overpay for training sessions that you must book/cancel 2 days in advance
11 then once you buy into a program the sales team pulls the ol'bait and switch, leaving you with a moderately experienced trainer, or pay double to work with a decent one
12 members can't seem to read, weights all over the place and don't seem to make it back to the rack or in the correct place
13 members tend to bring in towels, which fit around them as if it were a hand towel, or the walk @ the locker rooms naked with the mini-towel over their shoulder
14 fire Marshall would close them down if he saw how many people they allow into a single room for classes
15 pool has been shutdown many times for it being nasty
16 a roof leak ruined one of the floors causing it to be closed for multiple days
17 the racket ball court glass has repeatedly broken upon impact

Perks:
1 Zumba on Monday & Wednesday nights
2 yoga on Friday evenings
3 open til 11
